Fresh Crisis Rocks SDP As Chairman Dismisses Planned Congress The Kogi State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is facing internal discord as its chairman, Moses Peter Oricha, has dismissed a planned congress by some individuals claiming to be party members, The Bureau Newspaper gathered. In a statement issued on Monday, Oricha urged the general public, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disregard the purported congress, which is allegedly scheduled for March 12, 2025.
“It has just come to my notice that some ghost individuals claiming to be members of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Kogi State are planning to organise a state congress this Wednesday, March 12, 2025,” Oricha stated.
Describing the move as “laughable and criminal,” he accused the individuals of being faceless and working for external sponsors with the intent of causing chaos in the party.
“The general public should not take these individuals seriously with their caricature of a state congress, which cannot stand the test of time because nobody knows them in SDP Kogi State,” he added.
Oricha confirmed that he had officially written to INEC, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, urging them to disregard and stop the planned congress, which he declared null and void.
