Fire Destroys Cross River State High Court Complex

The cause and the level of damage done by the fire are yet to be ascertained by the authorities in charge.

A building housing the Cross River State High Court in Ogoja has been destroyed by fire.

It was learnt that the building was razed by fire on Sunday evening. The fire severely damaged the court’s infrastructure.

 

Reports stated that the fire was quenched after the intervention of various security agencies and relevant authorities.

 

The cause and the level of damage done by the fire are yet to be ascertained by the authorities in charge.

 

In a recent report, the Kwara State High Court complex was also gutted by fire in February 2024.

 

The Kwara court incident was casued by a surge in electricity supply to the area.

 

A statement by the Head of Media and Publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, which confirmed the incident, had said the registry department and the litigation office were particularly damaged by the fire at the complex.

 

The complex is located in the GRA area of Ilorin, the state capital.

 

The statement added that firemen were alerted to the inferno through a distress call which the firefighters responded to.
