Four university final year students involves in accident during sign out celebration
The University of Benin’s (UNIBEN) “Sign Out” celebration for graduating students of the 2023/2024 academic session took a devastating turn earlier today. Four male students, who were reportedly in high spirits, were involved in a car accident due to reckless and non-cautious driving.
Eyewitnesses reported that the students, filled with excitement and euphoria, were driving at a high speed along the route from the engineering faculty to the staff quarters. Unfortunately, their vehicle lost control and crashed into a building under construction, causing significant damage to both the car and the building. The impact of the crash was so severe that it left a large dent in the building’s wall.
Security personnel quickly arrived at the scene and took control of the situation, rescuing the victims. All four students sustained serious injuries and bruises, with some of them bleeding profusely. An ambulance was promptly called to transport them to the university’s medical center for treatment.
However, amidst the chaos, two of the victims quietly left the scene, refusing medical attention and care. The university authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, but an investigation is likely to be launched to determine the cause of the accident. The incident has left the university community in shock, with many students and staff expressing concern for the victims’ well-being.
