The new-look FIFA Club World Cup will hold from June 15 to July 13 in the US. The competition was expanded from seven to 32 teams.

In a statement on Wednesday, FIFA said the revamped tournament is expected to generate “$2 billion in revenues”.

According to Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, all revenue from the competition “will be distributed to the participating clubs and via club solidarity across the world”.

He added that “FIFA will not keep a single dollar” and “FIFA’s reserves, which are there for global football development, will remain untouched”.

“The FIFA Club World Cup will not only be the pinnacle of club football, but also a vivid demonstration of solidarity that will benefit clubs at large to a scale that no other competition has ever done,” Infantino said.

The draw for the Club World Cup was held in December 2024. Real Madrid are drawn against Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia, Mexico’s CF Pachuca, and FC Salzburg in Group H while Manchester City were drawn against Wydad AC of Morocco, Al-Ain FC of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Juventus in Group G.

Chelsea got Flamengo of Brazil, Mexico’s Club Leon and Esperance Sportive de Tunis with Inter Miami, Lionel Messi’s team, paired against Palmeiras, Porto and Al Ahly of Egypt.

The announced prize pot doubles the $440 million shared by teams that participated at the 2022 men’s World Cup in Qatar and almost ten times the $110 million for the 2023 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia.
