Bosun Tijani, minister of communications, innovation, and digital economy, announced the programme via social media on Thursday.

The minister said the programme is part of efforts to strengthen the government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, which aims to position Nigeria as a hub for digital skills and development.

“Strengthening the @3MTTNigeria initiative and deepening its impact is a priority for my Ministry, therefore I am pleased to announce the launch of the DeepTech_Ready Upskilling programme — another important step on our journey to transform Nigeria into a leading hub for digital skills and development,” he wrote.

Tijani said the programme is backed by Google as part of its N2.8 billion grant to upskill young Nigerians in AI.

The training will run for six months per cohort and will combine self-paced and on-site learning, with online support.

The minister said participants will be trained in advanced data analysis and visualisation, data science and machine learning, data architecture, geospatial data science, and computer vision.

Other courses include natural language processing and advanced machine learning techniques.

According to the programme’s website, the training is open to 3MTT fellows and individuals with basic to intermediate knowledge in relevant technical fields.

Tijani said interested candidates can visit 3mtt.nitda.gov.ng/deeptech to apply.
