Female Student Commits Su!cide After Her Lecturer Boyfriend Says He Is Not Doing Again
A Diploma Two female student doing industrial attachment with Adamawa State Television, Yola, Jemima Shetima Balami, has committed s—e.
Jemima, a Mass Communication student of Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, allegedly committed s—e by consuming a poisonous substance after her boyfriend announced that he was no longer interested in the relationship.
The boyfriend is said to be a lecturer with the Modibbo Adama University, Yola.
The female student, who hails from Garkida, in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, died at her residence in Vinikilang, a Riverside community near the state capital, Yola.
The 24-year-old Jemima is said to be the only daughter of her father.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said the father of the deceased reported the matter to the police.
Nguroje said, “The father of Jamima reported that she committed s—e by taking a deadly substance. Another version had it that she visited her boyfriend, a lecturer at Modibbo Adama University, Yola, and was told to quit the relationship. Angered by the news of exiting her boyfriend, the deceased took poison.”
Nguroje, however, said the matter would be duly investigated.
