Federal Polytechnic Nekede ripe to ‘export’ Rectors to other Polytechnics, says Arimanwa
By its standard and legacy, Federal Polytechnic Nekede has been described as ripe enough to produce Rectors for other Polytechnics in Nigeria. Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr M.C. Arimanwa FNSE, made this remark when he received a search-team from Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Unwanna that visited the Polytechnic earlier today on a recruitment drive.
According to the Poly boss, Federal Polytechnic Nekede has come of age to serve as a veritable source of tested hands that can man higher institutions of learning in Nigeria. Hear him, “We want to export a Rector to Federal Polytechnic Unwana because we have the capacity to do so. With over one hundred Chief Lecturers, there is nothing that stops us from exporting tested hands to man Polytechnics where vacancies exist for the post of Rector. Indeed, we have achieved so much on our mandate as an institution. However, we are yet to export Rectors to other institutions. The time to do so is now!”
Earlier, Dr Longinus Nwokeneme, who led the search-team, stated that they were at the Polytechnic to further advertise the position of Rector at their institution, since the incumbent would be bowing out early August. He, therefore, charged Chief Lecturers who had spent no fewer than five years in the rank to apply.
Also present at the Council Chambers, venue of the interaction, were the Deputy Rector (Academic), Mr. Chris Onyemenonu and Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr Uzoma Ibeaja. Others were the Registrar (represented by Mr Nze Mathias), Bursar (represented by Mrs. Ijeoma Ukwu) and the Librarian, Dr Chris Enyia (Librarian), and a cross section of Chief Lecturers of the Polytechnic.
