Federal Poly Nekede ahead in staff promotion, three new programmes for resource visitation, more technological inventions afoot – Rector*
The last may not have been heard about the historic records of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, as its hardworking and innovative Rector, Engr Dr M.C. Arimanwa, has announced that the institution is well ahead of so many Federal Polytechnics in the country on staff promotion. The Rector disclosed this yesterday at the first solemn assembly held at the main auditorium of the institution.
According to the poly supremo, some polytechnics are still conducting 2019 promotion exercise while the Federal Polytechnic Nekede is well up-to-date in the exercise. This once again underpins the Rector’s commitment to staff welfare and development. It also reinforces the polytechnic’s leading role in the nation as best-performing polytechnic in Nigeria.
To further blaze the trail in scholarship, the Rector also informed the assembly that the polytechnic would soon be playing host to a delegation from the Nigerian Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for resource visitation on three new programmes, namely: Water Resources Technology, Soil Science Technology and Mineral and Petroleum Engineering Technology.
It will be recalled that very recently, the polytechnic successfully introduced six new programmes of entrepreneurial standard. This was in addition to scaling through the reaccreditation of thirty three programmes currently run by the polytechnic.
Meanwhile, the highly innovative Rector has disclosed that the polytechnic would soon unveil an unmanned surveillance aircraft which would greatly improve security in the society, as the machine would be fitted with relevant communication channels to which it could provide intelligence report. This is coming at on the heels of a historic electric car invention.
In another development, the Poly Chief Executive has disclosed that plans are on ground to build a car bay outside the gate where students could park their cars, albeit at owners’ risk, a move that has been described as courageous.
Similarly, the Rector, while fielding questions to the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) on the ban placed on students driving on campus, lamented the crass disregard to speed limits by students, reiterating that the measure was not vindictive in any form, since it was to ensure safety of lives on the campus.
