A business mogul and cerebral Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA) has advised the government of Ondo state to develop economic recovery strategies at this critical moment.
Akingboye who was fielding questions from journalists on Tuesday, 14th April, 2020 explained that Ondo state’s economy has been seriously battered due to poor management and deficient leadership and ideas in the past, and has become worse under the current leadership who practically do not seem to have the required skills to rescue it.
The leading governorship aspirant advocated that something urgent should be done to save Ondo state’s residents from the impending hunger and suffering most especially during this period of COVID-19 pandemic.
Akingboye advanced the benefits of such move after the coronavirus pandemic, noting that Small and Medium scale businesses that may have suffered during the COVID 19 pandemic will easily rise if government swings into action now.
He further explained that only a business oriented person will understand the basics of his advocacy even as he advised Ondo State citizens to ensure that a businessman like himself is considered as the next governor of the state so that its economy and other critical sectors do not continue to suffer.
He said “If allowed to fly the PDP ticket and subsequently elected Governor of Ondo State, the transformation agenda we are bringing shall be anchored on economic prosperity, poverty alleviation cum responsive and responsible governance.
“We shall invest hugely in our people viz-a-viz inclusion of our citizens in public works while creating a comfy environment for foreign investment.
“We shall invest in education, health and social protection.”
To Akingboye, performance in every other sectors become easier and better when the economy is thriving without pressure on the people.
“In a smooth running economy, jobs are available, the youths are engaged, the gap between the haves and haves-not is drastically reduced, everyone has hope of a better tomorrow and that’s what we are going to ensure.
He is confident that if given the mantle of leadership, his administration would not be wasteful and insensitive to the plight of the masses even as he promised to run all government affairs in transparency and as well surpass the achievements of all his predecessors.
Akingboye therefore appealed to the people and lovers of the sunshine state to support the less privileged and needy at this trying time even as he implored them to obey all safety precautions announced by the government in order to collectively fight the deadly coronavirus disease.
