#FearlessInOctober Protest To Hold Because Tinubu Govt Failed To Address 15 Demands From Nigerians —Sowore
The charter of demands preceded the 10-day #EndBadGovernance protests, which started on August 1. This nationwide demonstration sought to amplify the voices of Nigerians and push for meaningful reforms.
Omoyele Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow movement, has explained that Nigerians are planning the forthcoming #FearlessInOctober protests because the Nigerian government has failed to address their demands which led to nationwide protests in August.
In July, Sowore released a comprehensive list of demands compiled from Nigerians, seeking to address the country’s pressing governance challenges under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
The document, published on Sowore’s X (formerly Twitter) account, is a culmination of inputs gathered from citizens participating in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria campaign.
This was aimed to mobilise Nigerians and hold their leaders accountable.

Following the government’s inaction on their pressing demands, Nigerians staged massive protests across the country during the first ten days of August. However, despite these public demonstrations, the government’s recent policies and actions have demonstrated a disturbing lack of empathy and sensitivity towards the plight of its citizens.
According to Sowore, the government’s indifference has left Nigerians with no choice but to continue their protests.
Beginning October 1st, 2024, the nationwide demonstrations will persist until the Nigerian government demonstrates a willingness to address the outstanding demands.
Sowore emphasised that the prolonged protests are a necessary response to the government’s failure to prioritise the welfare and concerns of its citizens.
Sowore, who appeared on News Central TV live on Monday, said: “It (referring to the next protest) is not that it’s being planned, it has always been planned. It was planned immediately after August #EndBadGovernance and it was meant to continue because the government did not react or address any of the issues: the 15 issues that were requested in August.
“It is not that it is being planned, it has always (been planned) and it is currently undergoing whatever you want to call it – ‘planning.’”
Sowore stated that the protesters would be demanding the immediate and unconditional release of all citizens arrested and currently detained for participating in the August protests.
The former African Action Congress presidential candidate added that Nigerians also want the current Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to be sacked for allowing its personnel to brutalise and harass protesters and media practitioners during the August protests.
