Going forward, Alumni of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo state will very much involve in stabilizing the varsity. Our interests, among other things is to see the University growing in leap and bound. Historically, the emerging victory of AAUA came to limelight in the days of Chief Adebayo Adefarati who incidentally at the time was the chief executive, and Governor of Ondo State. In a couple of discussion and interaction, Baba’s major interest at the time in 1999 was to elevate the standard of many impoverished citizens of Ondo who may not afford the tuition of many private schools and tertiary education. He was quick to understand the import of socializing and localizing Education hence the development with Ondo State University, Akungba otherwise OSUA before metamorphosising into Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo state to honour the late sage Pa. Adekunle Ajasin of blessed memory. It is however reasonable to investigate the tapestry of history, and acknowledge the leadership of Adekunle Ajasin University and the prospects ahead.

Significantly, the underlying factors for which the University is expected to mother other institutions in Ondo State is sparingly glaring with the advancement so far recorded the last twenty-four years since it creation. Adekunle Ajasin University grew from almost nothing, less or, no resources to a world class globally competitive institution. Repeatedly, AAUA has clinched several awards and prominently is the National University Commission approving Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo state as the best state University. The commission apparently noticed this stride in 2007 and had consistently maintained with huge emphasis the ranking status of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State among other Universities.

I must commend the leadership & vice Chancellors of the University right from the very inception. They include, Prof. Akindoyele, Prof. Akere, Prof Ibukun (Ag.) Prof. Abiodun, Prof Mimiko and today, Prof. Olugbenga Ige who currently is the vice Chancellor.

In my assessment, and as a proud Alumni of the university who during the cause of leadership as SUG President, and who equally excelled in studies, have noticed, with copious evidence that AAUA will most likely triumph with more indigenous staff becoming the Vice Chancellor of the University. This is profoundly exemplified in the manner Prof Olugbenga Ige has continued to discharge responsibilities in his official capacity since becoming the Vice Chancellor. It is evidenced by the smooth academic session and peaceful coexistence of staff as well as students and the host community, Akungba. May I seize the moment to applaud and also congratulate the new graduands of the University, especially those icing on the cake with a First class and whom are beneficiaries of immediate employment with University.

I must therefore commend the leadership of Vice Chancellor and University management who have deemed fit the need to progress academic fortune and hope for these young scholarly minds. It is my believe that such opportunities will again inspire and motivate other students to blaze their trails in not only academic, but also the combination of leadership.

The new year’s convocation, no doubt, has spurred tenacity towards improving the quality of Education and placing Adekunle Ajasin University in a more competitive circumstance for global exploits. I am equally aware of the sterling performance of AAUA students at the Nigerian Law school in recent times and how my alma mater recorded heights in many first class during the Bar Exams.

While celebrating the University for her 12th convocation, I wish to encourage both staff and students to remain forthright, committed, and resilient in keeping Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State above flames & storms.

Congratulations, AAUITES.
Happy Convocation Ceremony!
