Engineer Olawande Okoro calls for genuine, deepening and sustenance of Democracy in Nigeria
Engineer Okoro Olawande, a prominent member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has appealed very strongly to Nigerians to rally support in building on the fundamental values of democracy on the 2024 Democracy Day.
Okoro Olawande stressed that democracy demands sacrifices, particularly ours that is still undergoing reforms and transition. He emphasised on the importance of every person actively participating in its preservation by voting in elections and lending support to politicians dedicated to good governance and delivery of dividends of democracy.
Engineer Okoro Olawande hammered on the import of addressing voters’ apathy and guaranteeing elections that are both free and fair. He expressed the need to safeguard our hard-won democracy by actively engaging those things that can reduce voters apathy to its barest minimum. This, he hinged on giving utmost importance to conducting free and fair elections, as it is our responsibility as Nigerian citizens.
It is imperative that we also endorse political aspirants that genuinely prioritise the welfare of the state. His appeal becomes necessary because of the crucial nature of civic engagement in upholding a robust democratic culture.
Prior to the forthcoming Ondo governorship election, Okoro appealed to the voters in Ondo State to back Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and Dr Olayide Adelami, mni as the Deputy Governor, the chosen candidate of the APC.
He defined Aiyedatiwa as an authentic advocate of democracy who will deliver more benefits of democratic governance to the people of Ondo. Engineer Olawande Okoro’s endorsement signifies his confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s ability to provide efficient governance and meet the yearnings and aspiration of the people.
He fervently prayed for the perpetuation of a democratic process that confers advantages onto all Nigerians and fortifies the democratic bedrock of the nation.
