His academic achievements include a Diploma in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science, and a Master’s degree in Parliamentary Administration from the Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies, Abuja.

He spent 13 years at the Ekiti State House of Assembly Commission, rising through the ranks before voluntarily retiring to coordinate the Ekiti South Development Agenda. As a passionate activist, Afuye played a key role in the Federation of Ode-Ekiti Students Union. His entry into politics was met with enthusiasm, as he emerged as the deputy governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in a previous election. Later, he joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s successful election campaign.
