DIVINE ASSISTANCE – Pastor Isaac Olutimehin
TEXT:
1 Chronicles 12:22 KJV.
“For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God”.
2 Chronicles 26:15 KJV.
“And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong”.
*MESSAGE*
☆☆☆ It is not everyone who needs the help of God that God will surely help.
☆☆☆ God will attend to some while he will abandon others.
☆☆☆ Let’s look at certain reasons why God will attend to some requests and ignore others.
*1. Entitlement mentality*
☆☆☆ There are certain set of people who can never be helped by God.
☆☆☆ These are people who believe that God should help them because of their works.
☆☆☆ The Pharisees and the Sadducees fall within this category. Read the story of the Pharisee and the Publican in Luke 18:10-14.
☆☆☆ There was this short video clip I watched where a woman was challenging God for helping others and ignoring her. She didn’t even bother to thank God for the past benefits but she was busy reminding God of how faithful and committed she had been, serving God.
☆☆☆ Beloved, this is entitlement mentality. No man, who has entitlement mentality, can gain the attention and the help of God.
*2. Givers*
☆☆☆ Givers will surely gain the attention of God. They aren’t giving to God because they want to get something in return from God. They are giving to God because they love God.
☆☆☆ A good example of this was king Solomon who went to Gibeon to give God a thousand offerings, in one single night. Read 1 Kings 3:3-5.
☆☆☆ Solomon provoked God through his unusual giving. God now asked him to make a request.
☆☆☆ Solomon eventually got much more than what he requested for.
☆☆☆ Beloved, givers can never lack. That’s why the bible says
“A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men” – Proverbs 18:16.
*3. Worshippers of God*
☆☆☆ These set of people are chronic worshippers of God.
☆☆☆ Whether God helps them or not, they are ready and willing to worship God all the same.
☆☆☆ David was a perfect example of such people.
☆☆☆ No wonder God said he was a man after his own heart. Read 1 Samuel 13:14.
☆☆☆ The challenges of life can never stop worshippers from giving God his food, worship.
☆☆☆ Paul and Silas were in prison, awaiting death, they still worshipped God like never before.
☆☆☆ God responded and their chains were gone and they regained their freedom. Read Acts 16:25-26.
*Examples of divine assistance, followed by fervent prayers*
*A.* A man had an accident on a lonely road, his car skidded off the road and launched into a dish.
☆☆☆ There was no one available to assist him. All of a sudden, a towing van, with a long rope, appeared from no where and assisted him to bring out the car without any charge.
*PRAYERS*
1. Father, please send me a divine assistance where I’m stranded and helpless at the junction of life.
2. Oh God my Creator, send me destiny helpers from known and unknown sources in Jesus name.
3. Oh God my father, at the very point where many others are being resisted, please send me divine assistance.
*B.* Another man was travelling with his pregnant wife at night. Suddenly his car stopped and it was late and very dark.
☆☆☆ He knew if someone could push the car, it would work again. His wife was pregnant and couldn’t help. He came out of the car looking troubled, thinking of what next to do.
☆☆☆ Suddenly he saw an image approaching. By the time the image came close enough, he discovered that he was a mad man.
☆☆☆ Should he run, if he did what about his wife? While he was still standing there, not knowing what next to do, the mad man came to him and commanded him to enter the car. The man fearfully obeyed.
☆☆☆ The mad man went behind the car and pushed. Suddenly the car roared back to life. The man was watching the mad man through the back mirror and he saw him waving bye.
☆☆☆ That ‘mad man’ was an angel of God and not a mad man.
PRAYERS
4. Oh God my father, on the lonely path of life, send me your angels.
5. Oh you helping hand of God, lift me higher beyond the reach of the wicked in Jesus name.
6. Oh God my father, where the challenges of life are trying to frustrate me, please Lord, send me a divine assistance.
*C.* Our daddy, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye; told us a story of his own encounter with the God of divine assistance.
☆☆☆ He went to visit his uncle in the farm and missed his way. He was lost in the bush.
☆☆☆ A white dog appeared and led him to where his uncle was. When his uncle asked him how he found his way, he was trying to point to the dog that led him, the dog had disappeared.
☆☆☆ Another appearance of the angel of God and not a dog.
PRAYERS.
7. Father as I journey through the pathway of life, please be my guide.
8. Where many others are going the wrong direction, father lead me through the right direction to my destination.
9. Oh God of divine assistance, my case is very urgent, please help me Lord.
10. Oh God my father, please convert my errors and my mistakes to my own advantage.
