The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Yobe State Council, has called on its affiliated members to disregard a circulating notice urging an indefinite strike.

In a statement released on Saturday, Muktari Musa Tarbutu, the State NLC Chairman, dismissed the strike notice as fraudulent and unfounded, emphasizing that it lacks any legitimate grounds.

The statement partly read: “You may recall that the joint committee between the government and NLC has concluded its negotiation on New Minimum wage and the report has since been forwarded to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State Honourable Mai Mala Buni CON for his consideration and approval.

“Therefore by this Notice NLC Yobe State Council is calling on all the Yobe State civil servants to disregard this purported circular and continue with their normal works and activities, we equally urge the Yobe State Civil servants and the general public to be cautious of fake news and circulars”.

He advised public servants to always cross-check information with reliable sources before disseminating it.

Tarbutu also clarified that the fraudulent circular did not originate from the State Council, reiterating the NLC’s dedication to safeguarding the rights and interests of Yobe State workers.
