In order to promote the culture of excellence, innovation and compliance to standards among the producers, distributors and service providers, Consumer Protection Council, under the leadership of Hon. Obioma Okafor has concluded plan to honour few companies who have excelled in their brands of products and has maintained a high quality corporate services to consumers.
This programme is scheduled to hold tomorrow Friday, 10th December, 2021, at CPC auditorium, Area P, adjacent ISOPADEC office, New Owerri, Imo State, by 11am. It is expected that His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Prof. Placid Njoku, the Deputy Governor of Imo State and other top government officials will be on ground to grace the occasion.
According to the Director General, CPC Imo State, Hon Mrs Obioma Okafor, the council’s decision to celebrate outstanding performances of companies and service providers, is to encourage compliance to good manufacturing practices.
In view of this objective, the council has norminated for this prestigious Award, some Companies, Supermarkets and Service providers that deals on quality products as well maintain good customers care.
The Consumer Friendly Award 2021 nomination is in recognition of the outstanding service delivery, innovative techniques and extraordinary supports, some companies have shown in promoting consumer protection in the state.
It is important to note that Hon. Mrs Obioma Okafor has done a lot since she assumed office as the Director General Imo State consumer protection Council. She has raised the ebb of public awareness of the activities of CPC in imo State. She has done a lot of sensitization to ensure effective protection of consumers. She has gone to the three Senatorial zones in Imo State on awareness campaign to educate Imo citizens on the need to check manufacturing and expiration date of any product before purchase. As the DG, Hon. Mrs Obioma Okafor has become a regular guest to all radio/tv stations in Imo State in a bid to create the needed awareness.
In order to promote the culture of innovation and excellence amongst the producers, distributors and service providers in Imo State, the DG has visited all the major supermarkets, factories and companies in Imo State to acquaint them with the council’s resolve and determination to ensure Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and adequate protection of consumer’s rights.
