Former presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his counterpart Peter Obi of the Labour Party, have reportedly reached a fresh agreement regarding the 2027 presidential race.

According to The Eagle Online, both leaders and their allies are working on forming a united front.

The understanding reportedly reached includes a decision that Atiku will run for the presidency again in 2027 but will only stay in office for one term if elected.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi is being considered for the position of vice president in that proposed arrangement.

The idea behind this plan is that after Atiku’s single term, Obi will be in line to contest for president in 2031.

The discussions are not just about individuals, but also about which political party or platform will be used to carry out this strategy.

Moves have already begun, and more meetings are expected as the group continues to seek support from other politicians and stakeholders.

This latest plan is part of efforts to merge forces ahead of the 2027 elections, as opposition figures are exploring ways to challenge the ruling party and unseat Bola Tinubu.

While full details have not been made public, it is clear that conversations are ongoing and key figures from both the PDP and LP are involved in shaping the direction of the alliance.
