Details of alleged agreement reached between Fubara, Tinubu

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reportedly struck a deal with President Bola Tinubu in a bid to end the lingering political crisis in the state.

This comes after the duo met in London last week.

The meeting took place quietly last week, shortly after the president left Paris, and was not made public at the time.

Governor Fubara, who was suspended on March 18 after a state of emergency was declared in Rivers State, reportedly requested the meeting.

President Tinubu had appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as sole administrator to oversee the affairs of the state during the emergency period.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Governor Fubara is set to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as part of the resolution plan.

The source further disclosed that Fubara will not face impeachment upon his return to office.

Instead, he will be allowed to complete his current term but will not seek re-election in 2027.

The move is seen as a strategic compromise aimed at de-escalating the political crisis and restoring governance stability in Rivers State.
