Depression drives away development — Pastor Enenche
The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, Paul Enenche, has urged governments at all levels in the country to give hope and direction to the people, emphasising that no development can occur when the people are depressed.
Enenche made this statement while responding to questions from newsmen at the Dominion Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday.
The pastor, who was in the state for a two-day crusade, noted that meaningful development begins with a mental shift and faith-boosting of the people.
He said, “When the minds of the people are changed, the land is changed. Human beings make up the land. If people are demotivated, depressed, or unenergised, and there is sluggish development in the land, along with apathy, indifference, and a ‘let it happen’ syndrome, we may not go far.
“But when hope is given to people, when light is shown to them, when direction is provided, and when faith in God is lifted, anything is possible. As we do what we need to do and trust God to do what He can do, things can change. I believe that is a great way to go.”
The pastor stated that one of the aims of the Lagos crusade, held at the National Stadium between Thursday and Friday, was to strengthen the people’s faith in God and provide humanitarian services to them.
He said, “We are going to have medical outreaches. Medical treatments will be carried out, and we also have a welfare distribution plan in addition to spiritual illumination.”
Enenche, who hosted the 2025 national conference of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, expressed his belief in a progressive change within the Christian community moving forward.
“The theme of that conference was the rebirth of a nation, and speakers addressed the possibilities of the mission and its potential outcomes. So, I believe the blueprint has been laid out in terms of what the church needs to do. With individual participation, instead of apathy, we expect great things to happen,” he stated.
