Delta Gunshot victim recounts ordeal
Barely twenty four hours after a stray bullet from a trigger happy policeman shot a dispatched rider along the East/West road, at the Delta community of Ughelli North local government area of Delta state during the day 2 of the hunger protest. The victim Mr. Kester Elohor who is presently recuperating at the Ughelli General hospital have narrated how he was shot while going about his delivery duties.
The protest in Ughelli which started in August 1st with bonfires, later heated up with more youths coming out for day two despite military and police presence. One hour into the protest led to gunshot sound from the direction of a group of policemen as the dispatched river fell down before he was taken into a motorcycle enroute the hospital.
He narrated how he was shot on his way to deliver an eye drop which he displayed at the hospital. He commended the Nigerian Army personnel who directed a motorcycle rider to take him to the hospital when others were afraid to do so, while his friend also narrated how they received the news before rushing to see him at the hospital. When contacted, the Delta police spokesperson Edafe Bright said investigation is still ongoing, to identify if it was a policeman that pulled the trigger
