1 Samuel 17:40 KJV.
“And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine”.
☆☆☆ David was to go against Goliath and the bible says, “and chose him five smooth stones”.
☆☆☆ Beloved, note that the stones were all “smooth”, not corrupted. Genuine salvation.
☆☆☆ Bible scholars believed that each of those stones stood for the letters that formed the name of JESUS.
☆☆☆ In other words, David attacked his Goliath with the name of JESUS.
☆☆☆ A song writer says:
The name, the name of Jesus,
Is higher and greater than any other name,
It is not an ordinary name,
But full of power and praise.
☆☆☆ Beloved, the name of Jesus Christ is not an ordinary name.
☆☆☆ This was confirmed in the victory of David over Goliath:
“And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth” – 1 Samuel 17:49.
☆☆☆ Note this beloved that David killed Goliath with only one stone.
☆☆☆ The bible didn’t tell us what he did with the remaining four stones.
☆☆☆ However, when you now read 2 Samuel 21:15, the bible says:
“Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint”.
☆☆☆ Remenber that Goliath was dead but the Philistines were now being led by his sons.
☆☆☆ Only Goliath was killed by David but his sons who survived him now led the Philistines to fight against Israel.
☆☆☆ When you now read 2 Samuel 21:16-22, the bible says:
“And Ishbi-benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword , thought to have slain David”.
[17] “But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel”.
[18] “And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant”.
[19] “And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Beth-lehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam”.
[20] “And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant”.
[21] “And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him”.
[22] “These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants”.
☆☆☆ Note the last verse “These four were born to the giant in Gath”.
☆☆☆ “These four” referred to the four children of Goliath of Gath.
☆☆☆ You can now see how David used the remaining four stones to kill the descendants of Goliath.
☆☆☆ In 2 Samuel 21:15, the bible says, “David waxed fainth”.
☆☆☆ David must have handed the remaining four stones to his warriors who used same to kill the four children of Goliath in battle.
☆☆☆ My point:
☆☆☆ Today, many people will take Jesus with them during the times of trouble but immediately the battle is over and victory is attained, they throw Jesus aside, forgetting that troubles have descendants.
☆☆☆ You will see some people mostly in church when they are in trouble or trusting God for one miracle or the other.
☆☆☆ Immediately a miracle occurs, they will become manufacturer of excuses and you will no longer see them in church.
☆☆☆ After David killed Goliath with one of the five stones, he reserved the remaining four for the sons of the giant that rose after him.
☆☆☆ Jesus should not be for the days of trouble alone but for all seasons.
☆☆☆ Remember, Goliath has descendants.
☆☆☆ Have you ever wondered why the battle of your life continues years after years!!!
☆☆☆ Most of the known witches and wizards in your village are all dead but they have handed over your case to their descendants.
☆☆☆ Here you are relaxing even on the battle field.
☆☆☆ Beloved, after victory, it is time to prepare for another war.
*PRAYERS:*
☆☆☆ Can you pray the following prayers quickly:
1. Oh God my father, don’t allow me to fall asleep at the altar of prayer.
2. I send the arrow of God into the camp of all the descendants of my attackers in Jesus name.
3. I grab the sword of God and I slaughter every descendant of the Goliath of my generation.
4. Father, let an end come upon every battle of my life today.
5. Affliction shall not rise the second time in my life.
6. In the name of Jesus, I decree, an end has come upon recurring troubles and calamities in my family.
7. You descendants of the Goliath of my life, I command you to perish in the way of your grandfather in Jesus name.
8. My Goliath shall not rise again.
9. The descendants of the trouble shooters of my life shall remain in the congragation of the dead in Jesus name.
10. As for me and my family, we shall remain on the side of the Lord Jesus.
*PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS:*
I pray for you today, God will give you victory over your Goliath in Jesus name.
I prophesy, the sons of your Goliath shall go the way of their father in Jesus name.
I decree, the challenges of life will not rob you of your salvation.
I pray for somebody today and I decree, the comfort of life shall not take Jesus away from you.
The man of war himself will see you through the challenges of life in Jesus name.
I decree and declare, every descendant of your Goliath shall go the way of their father.
No more affliction in your family in Jesus name.
The Man of war himself will take over your battles in Jesus name.
To somebody out there, reading this prayer message, I decree, every unrepentant troubler of the peace of your life shall be buried this year in Jesus name.
You will win this battle in Jesus mighty name.
