A statement released on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, said the presentation took place on Wednesday, 3 September 2024, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. The cheques were given to the families of officers who died in active service, as well as to officers injured in accidents while carrying out their official duties.

The gesture is part of the welfare initiatives aimed at supporting the families of fallen officers and assisting those injured in the line of duty. It is also intended to encourage officers still in service to continue being diligent.

The statement added, “The CP, on behalf of the IGP, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased officers and acknowledged the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes.”

He reaffirmed IGP Egbetokun’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of all officers, including those currently serving, retired, or deceased.

Onuoha also advised accident victims to prioritise their recovery, while urging the families of the deceased officers to use the funds to enhance their living conditions.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to IGP Egbetokun for the gesture and promised to use the money wisely.
