Court enforces order on late Ogun monarch’s 9.2 hectares land
Bailiffs from Ogun State High Court, Ijebu Ode, accompanied by a detachment of police officers from the state Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Tuesday, stormed Odoyanta via Irewon in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State to effect the court judgment given over a 9.2 hectares family land belonging the late traditional ruler of the town, Oba Solomon Erinle.
This was in pursuant to the judgment of the state High Court delivered on April 29 last year wherein Justice O H Oyajinmi sacked the illegal occupiers of the land and affirmed Mrs Mojisola Oyedele, Olugbenga Erinle and other beneficiaries of the estate owned by the late Oba Erinle as the rightful owners.
Speaking with the journalists during the exercise, the lawyer representing the Erinle family, Ganiyu Faniyi said it moved to take possession of the property as directed by the court.
“We got here this vast land of 9.2 hectares, in 2022, and we found out that some trespassers were already on the land without the consent of my clients.
“We warned them to desist but they will not yield. We didn’t want to take the law into our hands, so we approached the court and got the judgment last April.
“So, we are here today to take possession of the property as directed by the court.
“What this means is that from today anybody who does anything again on the land, without the consent or authority of my clients, will be guilty of contempt of the law, which comes with severe sanctions,” Faniyi said.
Faniyi admonished persons seeking to purchase property to do a diligent search to reveal its genuine title holders.
