Residents of Jibawa Community in Gaya Local Government Area, Kano State, are pleading for help due to the dire condition of their local healthcare center.

They are urging the Kano State government, Federal Ministry of Health, and Kano Ministry of Health to intervene and address the facility’s deplorable state, which poses a significant risk to their health and lives.

Photos reveal the shocking condition of the clinic, featuring collapsed ceilings and a hazardous environment, highlighting the urgent need for attention and renovation.

It was learned that the healthcare clinic, now in a state of disrepair, was intended to serve over 13,000 residents, including women and children.

However, it was revealed that accessing healthcare in the community has become extremely challenging, leaving residents with a harrowing experience.

A post on social media platform X, by @TrackaNG, a project of @BudgITng that empowers citizens to monitor and provide feedback on public projects, highlights the dire situation.

It said, “This is the state of Jibawa Health Clinic in Gaya LGA, Kano State. This facility is the only healthcare center supposedly serving over 13,000 residents including women and children.

“Jibawa health clinic is not just unfit for medical care, it has become a dead trap for patients. Bats have taken over the wards, making the facility uninhabitable.

“There are no medical officers or facilities to aid diagnosis and treatments.

“Expectant mothers are forced to trek 5km to neighboring communities to access healthcare.

“Residents are subjected to these harsh conditions every time there’s a need for medical care.

“We implore your office and the @KanostateNg, @Fmohnigeria, @KNSMOH, to facilitate the immediate reconstruction, equipping and staffing of this facility to ensure residents of Jibawa have access to healthcare.”
