Bayelsa State has lost its Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Elizabeth Bidei, who died on the morning of December 30, 2024.

Mrs. Bidei had been battling breast cancer, and her condition worsened after she suffered a stroke and a heart attack.

The news has deeply affected Governor Douye Diri and the state executive council, who expressed their condolences to her family, particularly her husband, Chief Jackson Bidei, and their children.

Known for her dedication to public service, Mrs. Bidei played a vital role in advancing women’s welfare in Bayelsa.

 

Her efforts in shaping policies and programmes that benefited the people of the state have left a lasting impact.

Her passing leaves a gap in the government and in the hearts of those she served.
