Chicago Varsity: Atiku Gives Fresh Update On Tinubu’s Education Background
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has accused Bola Tinubu, another presidential candidate, of not addressing alleged inconsistencies in his educational background and of obstructing efforts to clarify the matter through legal means
Atiku, a former Vice President, expressed confusion over Tinubu’s strong opposition to a request made to the Chicago State University (CSU) to provide public disclosure regarding his educational qualifications.
Atiku’s legal representative, Liu Angela, sent an email to Tinubu’s lawyers requesting their cooperation in seeking information from CSU about documents that are already in the public domain and have been submitted in Nigerian court proceedings.
Angela emphasized that Tinubu’s refusal to grant access to his educational records has intensified suspicions and indicated a potential attempt to hide something. She noted disappointment in how Tinubu has obstructed and delayed the legal process, stating that he had been advised to join the case earlier but chose to remain silent until Atiku’s team had filed an ‘Order Directing Discovery’ of his academic records in court.
Angela wrote, “Mr. Tinubu turned around a week later and headed straight to the States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois to apply to join as previously advised without consulting with Mr. Abubakar, perceived as a devious delay gimmick.”
Atiku’s legal team expressed willingness to cooperate with Tinubu’s lawyers to resolve the controversies surrounding Tinubu’s education claims, but they criticized Tinubu’s firm opposition to the discovery process, suggesting that it raises further suspicions about the matter
