Caution your appointees against inflammatory comments – PDP urges APC Gov
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to caution his appointees against making inflammatory comments that could escalate the security situation in the state.
The called was made by the Zone A State Vice Chairman of the party, Mr. Abraham Waroh in a statement in Makurdi.
Waroh referenced a viral video where the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Mr. Aondowase Kunde allegedly said the people of Jechira intermediate area of the state comprising Vandeikya and Konshisha Local Government Areas, LGAs, who fail to support the Governor should be compelled to do so.
The party condemned the alleged statement warning that it was not only improper but also an invitation to anarchy.
He party in the statement said: “PDP calls on Governor Hyacinth Alia to rein in the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, before he instigates further violence in Vandeikya, Konshisha and other parts of Benue North East.
“The PDP strongly condemns Mr. Kunde’s remarks, as Benue people have the freedom of association as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The party also referenced other alleged incidents by the Commissioner and said it had resolved to petition relevant security agencies regarding his latest comment.
Contacted, the Commissioner said he would soon respond to the allegation by the opposition party.
