The Chief of Staff to the president, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari has relinquished his position as the chair of Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development (SCDDD).
This was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Director of the center, Amb Abdullahi A. Omaki. The statement said mallam Adibu Yazid, a Development Economist and Administrator will take over as the chairman of the Centre.
It noted that Mallam Yazid has held several positions in government including rising to become secretary to the government of the Head of Service of Kaduna state, before his retirement from public service.
The statement said “Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to the President, has just conveyed in writing his immediate withdrawal as chairman of the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development (SCDDD).
The decision to withdraw is based on his conviction that it is the best thing to do to avoid conflicts of interest”. The Centre, a think-tank contributing to the sustenance of democracy and development through constructive advocacies in Nigeria was established by Prof Gambari in 2014.
The Centre is also involved in conducting series of dialogues aimed at promoting National Unity, leadership, national security, diversification of Nigeria’s economy to enhance the possibility of addressing the needs of the vulnerable in the society.
