Buhari, Sultan of Sokoto makes list of 500 World Prominent Muslims
According to the most recent ranking by the reputable Muslim 500 journal, President Muhammadu Buhari is the 17th most powerful Muslim.
Buhari was ranked as the 10th most influential Muslim politician in the world by The Muslim 500, a religious journal that ranks significant Islamic devotees worldwide.

Since 2015, when the Nigerian president took office as a democratically elected head of state, he has been included among the top 50 Muslims worldwide.
Buhari came in at number 17, behind leaders in the Islamic world like King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia (ranked first), President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey (ranked fourth), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (ranked eighth), King Mohammed VI of Morocco (ranked seventh), President Joko Widodo of Indonesia (ranked thirteenth), and other prominent figures.
He was ranked as the 17th most influential Muslim, out of the current 1.94 billion Muslims, by the survey.
Following Mr. Buhari at number 18, Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, also made the list.
According to the survey, around one-fourth of everyone on earth is a devout Muslim.
According to Muslim 500’s who’s who in the Islamic world, “The Top 50 Individuals are Ranked and Listed First. A select few are also picked to be in our Honourable Mentions section to appreciate the noteworthy contributions made in respective disciplines. The remaining 450 names are then listed (not rated) in categories of influence.
“The persons are arranged in each category by geographical location (Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America, South America), followed by an alphabetical list of the countries, and finally by surname,” it continued. This book combines timelines and statistics from a study of the previous year with the intention of acting as a potential Who’s Who for the coming year.
