breakdown and the implications of fubara’s withdrawal
As the Supreme Court strikes out Fubara appeal suit against Rivers State House of Assembly and the recognition of Martins Amaewhule leadership of the House
1. Governor Siminalayi Fubara has accepted that Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule is the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
2. This admission confirms that the governor originally presented the 2024 budget before an illegitimate House of Assembly.
3. He is now bound by the judgments of Hon. Justice J. K. Omotosho and the Court of Appeal, which mandate him to re-present the budget before Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule.
4. Having accepted these judgments, failure to re-present the 2024 budget will have inevitable legal and constitutional consequences.
5. By this action, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has also acknowledged that he spent funds from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of Rivers State without an approved budget—an act with serious legal implications.
