Benue LG polls: APC elects 299 candidates
The Benue chapter of the All Progressives Congress has elected 299 chairmanship and councillorship candidates for the October 5, local government elections.
Disclosing this to journalists in Makurdi on Friday, the Caretaker Organising Secretary/spokesman of the APC Caretaker Committee in the state, James Ornguga, said that the primaries were hitch-free.
According to Orgunga the party successfully elected 23 chairmanship and 276 councillorship candidates for the forthcoming elections.
He said, “All local governments in the state have concluded their primaries and submitted the results to the caretaker committee.
“The APC is pleased that no form of violence has been reported anywhere during the process as those who have concerns with the screening exercise reports have since approached the Barr. Moses Atagher-led screening appeal committee which has attended to all cases.
“This paved the way for the immediate commencement of the primary election on September 4, which stretched to September 5, 2024, which was completed by 2 pm.”
Recall that the Agada-led exco had earlier claimed to have conducted its primary and rolled out names of elected candidates for the coming local government election despite the dissolution of his exco by the national working committee.
