At least one killed, 29 escape with injuries in road accident involving knights of the Catholic Church
Thursday, March 27, 2025 – At least one person has d!ed and several are hospitalised after a coaster bus conveying members of the Knight of the Catholic Church got involved in an accident.
The bus, belonging to the Cross River State college of nursing, Ogoja, crashed along UNIZIK Temporary Site Junction, Awka, Anambra State.
The accident left 70-year-old Elliot Ushie Agana from Ogoja de@d and 29 others injured.
It was gathered the coaster bus with members of Knight of the Catholic Church, left Ogoja, in Cross Rivers State for Abatete, Idemili North council area of Anambra State for the burial ceremony of one of their members Dr. Ezigbo Sunny.
One of the survivors, Pastor Christian Ikere, explained they noticed the bus was having brake problems while leaving Ogoja for Anambra and despite pleas to the driver to work on it, he turned deaf ears.
A passenger in another of the coaster buses, Mr Chidiebere Chukwu, said one of the three coaster buses conveying members lost control and was waving at other vehicles to clear the road to avoid accident.
But on getting to UNIZIK junction, it hit an inter-city commercial vehicle loading along the road, causing the accident.
