Just in one year, the lawmaker representing owo and ose federal constituency at the House of representative in Abuja has made a landmark worthy of quality representation, this was released in his account of stewardship for the first year in office, according to him.
My Dear Constituents,
Today marks my one year in office as your Ambassador at the House of Representatives in Abuja, I therefore stand before you and history today to give you account my stewardship in the last one year in office as your trustee.
Firstly, I give glory to Almighty God, the most merciful and gracious for the progress made so far.
During my inauguration, party members, friends, family and associates travelled down to Abuja in large number to celebrate with me. To this end, i remain indebted to you all and most earnestly Chief Sydney Ogunleye who led the delegation of Owo and other notable important personalities for the love shown.
It has been a wonderful and the most interesting experience as the out gone legislative year was very eventful at both Federal, state and constituency levels.
With your support, I was freely elected purely on whom I am and what I stood for and in less than 24 brief months, I rose from the obscurity of a state Commissioner of Commerce and Industry to become a democrat in the National Assembly. During my campaign, I promised to offered myself as exhibit ‘A’ in the case of hope and make myself a positive change across Owo/Ose federal constituency.
Today, i am glad to inform you that i have become a mirror through which many people could see their cherished political ideals, tolerance, cooperation, equality, justice and fair play coming into reality.
My primary purpose of going to the national assembly is to evolve laws that will better the lots of the greatest number of my people, promote their economic wellbeing, social status and in the process attract developmental projects.
The mandate freely given to me by all of you will remain my guiding principles through which I will strive diligently with all sense of responsibilities and genuine consciousness to actualize the following projects in my Constituency through the Green Chamber where I’m representing you.
- On assumption of office, I decided to reach out to the people at the grassroots to ensure geographical spread of the dividends of democracy among the 23 wards in the federal constituency that launched me into National political fame and prominence, hence, the appointment of 30 Special Assistance and Legislative Aides with assigned port folios.
This is unprecedented in the political history of our federal constituency as it promoted government of inclusiveness and negate winners take all syndrome at the highest height. - The Ogbese Bridge: This bridge was awarded 11 years ago by past administration and sad enough, the bridge was at 80% completion before it was abandoned for a decade.
However, on assumption of office, I took it upon myself to bring the project back into the 2020 budget for completion. I am glad to inform you that the contract had been revoked and the corrupt contractor fired while it has equally been appropriated in the 2020 budget to be re-awarded to a very serious minded and committed contractor.
By the grace of God, the long abandoned Okeluse/Ogbese bridge will in no distant time be reconstructed to ease transportation problems facing the people in the area. - Rural Electrification Project of Upenmen/Owo:
This community had been plunged into perpetual darkness over the years but with my wider consultations with the Olupenmen-Elect, Prince Ebenezer Adewumi Ogunmolasuyi, I decided to make rural electrification a priority and cardinal project for the first quarter of my tenure in the National Assembly. To this end, it has been successfully captured in the 2020 budget as well. - Prior to my election into the House of Representatives, many communities in Owo and Ose Local Government Areas of the state do not have town halls. Consequently, i have liaised with the community leaders of the affected areas and resolved to build about 8 Town Halls in those communities and through strong legislative framework, I have equally included it in the 2020 budget.
- Equally, i have succeeded in attracting the construction of 2 Skills Acquisition Centres within the federal Constituency.
- I have equally influenced and mobilised two (2) international standard ICT centres to Owo/Ose federal Constituency. I am bold to say that before the year runs out, it will surely materialise.
- It will also interest you to note that the Molege-Ute road currently under construction was made possible through my intervention and the road will soon be completed and delivered.
- Similarly, all the rural water Hand Pumps and boreholes in Owo/Ose have been approved for reactivation and currently work is ongoing through the Ministry of Water Resources.
- I am also collaborating with other lawmakers from the South/West at the national assembly for the dualization of Akure/Ilesa Expressway which terminated at Ita-Ipele, in Owo Local Government. This will not only enhance traffic on the road but further boost socio-economic activities of the zone.
- It is instructive to note that within this legislative year under review, records have shown that over one thousand residents across the 23 wards in the two Local Government Areas that made up the Federal Constituency have benefited from my two massive empowerment programmes both financially and materially. The first madden edition of the empowerment came few months after my inauguration. It was held in Ifon, headquarters of Ose LGA where no fewer than 400 party leaders and members from Ose and Owo were given cash donation ranging from N10,0000 – N30,000. The empowerment which was adjudged first of it kind had in attendance the Ondo state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Kola Olawoye, SAN, the State Party Women Leader, Mrs. Renike Witherspoon, the Ondo state Commissioner for Youths and Sport Development, Mr. Dotun Owanikin, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Natural Resources Mr Fatai Olushina and host of others.
11 The second phase of the empowerment program came up on Feburary 15, 2020 at St. Paul’s Primary School, Ifon, where 500 people were empowered through National Directorate of Employment, NDE with huge amount of money presented to the beneficiaries by the Director General of NDE Dr. Awosakin. The empowerment programme was witnessed by the Governor of the state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, as Special Guest of Honour, all Royal fathers in Ose LGA as Chief Hosts and other top government functionaries.
- Various micro-enterprise enhancement materials such as sewing machines, power generating sets, hair-driers, clippers and bathing kits were donated to another 300 party members, artisans, business men and women across Ose/Owo Federal Constituency.
- In my passionate gesture to the less privileged, I donated quite good number of wheelchairs and grail to some physically challenged persons led by their coordinator.
- Furthermore, good number of employable youths who submitted their credentials have been gainfully employed into various ministries, departments & agencies of government while various infrastructural and developmental projects have been facilitated and executed through our collaborative efforts with government at various levels.
- Over the last one year, my relationship with the constituents has been my top priorities. This has propelled me to organised first of its kind Town hall meeting tagged “MEET YOUR REP” where constituents ample opportunities to get first hand information about my activities at the national assembly and while the constituents asked questions or suggested ways to move forward.
This epoch making gathering was chaired by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo and paramount ruler of Ogho kingdom and we have in attendance, His Royal Highness Oba Ademola Oyinbade, the Oloba of Uso, His Royal Highness Oba Oluwafemi Joel Adeluwoye II, the Asuada of Isuada, Chief Sydney Ogunleye, the Owo Local Government All Progressive Congress Chairmen and his counterpart from Ose Local Government, Chief Ladi Tenabe, other community leaders among others.
It is worthy of note that several members of my constituency have benefited immensely from my office largesse and spoils from the National Assembly on occasions of joy and grief. - In order not to allow my legislative job to serve as impediment to my involvement in the grassroot development in my Constituency. I constantly liaise with our leader, the Governor of the state Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on issues affecting us and those that will bring development either politically or economically to Ose/Owo Federal Constituency.
- As an Ambassador who does not believed in cheering the crew while the boat is sinking or painting the town red while his subjects are plagued with myraids of deficiencies, I have given out palliatives to over 3000 households that comprises of party faithfuls, widows and less privilege in the federal constituency to cushion the effects and hardship the COVID 19 pandemic is inflicting on our people.
- There are myraids of Poverty Alleviation empowerment programmes which has been outlined for the people of the Constituency before the end of this year.
Ladies and Gentlemen, it is worthy to mention that all these would not have been possible without your supports and our concerted efforts in our legislative business for the benefit of our people.
At this juncture, I must show my sincere appreciation for the uncommon and unprecedented support I have been enjoying from all of you in the last one year as I will be looking forward for more in the years ahead.
My profound gratitude also goes to the Governor of Ondo state Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for his sterling outstanding and impeccable leadership qualities in piloting the affairs of the state and for the confidence he has munificently reposed in me to represent my people.
I thank all my party leaders and members of All Progressive Congress, APC, in my Federal Constituency and Ondo state in general.
Thank you all and God bless.
