APC’s North-Central Forum Rejects Abuja Court Ruling Stopping Removal Of National Chairman Ganduje, Vows To Appeal Judgment

The North-Central Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to appeal a high court judgement that allows Abdullahi Ganduje to remain in office as the party’s National Chairman.
SaharaReporters on September 23, reported how a Federal High Court in Abuja, dismissed a suit seeking the removal of former Kano State Governor, Ganduje as the party’s national chairman.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, in his judgment, dismissed the suit on the ground that the plaintiff, the North-Central APC Forum, led by one Saleh Zazzaga, had no locus standi to have filed the suit.
Justice Ekwo held that no credible evidence was presented before the court to show that the group was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), adding that the name was not known to law.
Reacting to the judgement while speaking to journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on Saturday, chairman of APC North-Central Forum, Zazzaga, said the forum would pursue all diligent means possible to fight for the return of the national chairmanship position of the party to the zone.
Zazzaga pointed out that APC North-Central will appeal last Monday’s ruling by the court which dismissed its suit seeking the removal of Ganduje as the party’s national chairman, adding that the “interpretation of the 2022 constitution of the APC as amended, which outlined the zoning arrangement was neglected by the court.”
The North-Central APC Forum had sued Ganduje, APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), praying for the nullification of the appointment of Ganduje as the National Chairman of the party.
The forum had said the appointment was done in violation of the party’s 2022 constitution as amended. It also claimed that “Ganduje’s appointment is in breach of our party’s zoning arrangement.”
According to the forum, the national chairmanship position should go to the North-Central where the ousted chairman and former governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu, comes from.
“To appoint someone from the Northwest to chair the party in place of Abdullahi Adamu is in itself a breach of our party’s constitution,” Zazzaga argued.
He added, “the appointment of Ganduje breached Article 13 of the APC Constitution because it was not done through a democratic process as enshrined in the party’s laws.”
Zazzaga assured that the forum will appeal the judgement and pursue the case to its logical conclusion.
He said, “The APC North-Central forum is well recognized as a support group within the party since 2018, and the evidence of the letter of recognition as a support group is there.
“Besides, we are chieftains and members of the party alike, and as individuals and groups, can’t we express our grievances if we feel that the party constitution is being fouled, can’t we seek legal redress as either individuals or as a group?
“And as for Ganduje, we will not allow him to destroy the APC in the North-Central region. Since we have been pursuing our demand for the region, some people for their selfish interests have been lobbied to betray the region.”
Zazzaga urged President Bola Tinubu as leader of the party to wade into the matter and send Ganduje out of the office, to allow peace to reign.
