APC deputy chairman, key executives, others defect to PDP
Yunusa Umar, the deputy chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has led about 7,500 members, including key party executives, in defecting to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Among those who switched parties were APC Youth Leader Yusuf Inuwa Bora and Welfare Secretary Isah Zakaria. They were officially welcomed into the PDP during a reception organized by Hon. Yusuf Sabo, the local PDP chairman, and Hon. Mohammed Abubakar Jibo, the Executive Chairman of Dass LGA.
At the defection event, Umar explained that their decision was influenced by Governor Bala Mohammed’s focus on the welfare of the people.
“Governor Bala Mohammed’s policies since 2019 have convinced us to align with PDP. The interests of our supporters come first, and we believe PDP truly prioritizes the welfare of the people,” Umar said.
The defectors promised to rally support for PDP in the upcoming general election. They highlighted that Governor Mohammed’s developmental projects have benefited the people more than when APC’s Yakubu Dogara was the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Hon. Jibo welcomed the new members and assured them of full integration into the PDP. He urged them to work together to advance the party’s goals for Dass and Bauchi State as a whole.
