APC Chieftain cautions motorists on reckless driving
The Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Special Duties, Yinka Richards, has called on motorists to adhere strictly to road traffic rules and regulations to make the end of the year celebration peaceful and hitch-free.
Richards, who made the call in his message on Saturday in Akure, while addressing some motorists after the road accident that occured on Owo -Akoko road today, he stressed the need to avoid any form.of pressure that may lead to loss of lives, and restated his earlier commitment to creating awareness on road safety measures.
“I appeal to Nigerians to reflect on this period of heightened human and vehicular movements to avoid any road mishaps that could undermine the celebration,” he said.
He also tasked personnel to ensure a free flow of traffic and zero-death Christmas and New Year celebrations, adding he has intimated the Federal Road Safety Corps on the need to penalize any road traffic offender, while saying that the FRSC corp Marshall during his visit to Ondo State has promised that the entire workforce and logistics have been mobilised to all the identified black spots and would remain there until January 15, 2025.
He said this was to ensure that all those who travelled home for Christmas and New Year returned safely. He also called on Nigerians to join the FRSC in the ongoing campaign for a safer road environment.
He further urged travellers to caution high-spirited drivers on high ways or report them to stationed road safety personnel to avoid loss of lives and charged officers on the highway to arrest such drivers.
