There was apprehension, yesterday, regarding rumoured resignation of National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu.

The speculation is coming against the backdrop of call by the Vice National Chairman (North West), Dr. Salihu Lukman, seeking Adamu’s resignation for alleged failure to render an account of expenditure.

He had argued that it was incumbent on the former Nasarawa State governor to throw in the towel honourably to balance the winning Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party.

Lukman, in a statement, titled “APC Internal Dynamics and the Future of Democracy,” canvassed a Christian leader.

But checks by newsmen revealed that Adamu is on a medical trip abroad.

However, an official, who craved anonymity, said it would not be surprising if the story eventually turns out to be true.

He noted: “He (Adamu) just left without informing anybody in the NWC (National Working Committee). Nobody is aware of his movement as we speak now. So, if they say he has resigned, who am I to say it is not true?”

When contacted, the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed the speculation as untrue.

“There is nothing like that. Senator Adamu is still the national chairman of the party,” he said.
