Anambra PDP governorship candidate emerges
Chief Jude Ezenwafor has been selected as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State.
The primary election was held on Tuesday at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka.
Ezenwafor, an Abuja-based real estate developer, was the only person who bought the party’s nomination form, making him the only contender.
Despite running unopposed, PDP followed its process by allowing delegates to vote using ballot papers where they wrote his name.
A total of 853 delegates participated in the voting exercise, including 839 from the 21 local government areas in the state and 14 national delegates.
Before now, Ezenwafor was in the news in 2022 when a faction of the Labour Party named him as its presidential candidate.
However, he later withdrew from the race, clearing the way for Peter Obi to emerge as the widely recognized candidate of the party during the 2023 presidential election.
With his emergence as PDP’s flag-bearer in Anambra, the party joins others that have confirmed their candidates.
The ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is fielding Governor Chukwuma Soludo for re-election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chose Prince Nicolas Ukachukwu, while the Labour Party selected George Muoghalu.
The African Action Congress (AAC) is presenting Chioma Ifemuludike, the only woman in the race so far.
Some officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present at the venue to monitor the process.
