Akure Stadium To Undergo Total Renovation : Ondo State Government Gives Assurance
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State, Otunba Bamidele Ologun assures the people of the state especially, sports lovers that Akure stadium will undergo total renovation soon.
The Commissioner addressing Ondo State Football Association comprising of delegates, coaches, football administrators in all the 18 Local Government of the state. The Annual General Assembly of Ondo State Football Association held on the 10th March, 2022 in Elan Club, Akure, Ondo State
Some of the delegates requested from the government and football managers in the state to patronize local coaches and tap from the rich and abundant resources doting every part of the state in the appointment of the coaching crew. They also requested that home matches of Sunshine stars should be played in Akure instead of Ije-Ode.
The chairman of the Football Association in the state, Otunba Ayodele Dele-Ajayi while addressing the 20th Annual General Assembly; highlighted some achievement of the body like: Organization of football competition in all the Local Government Football Council, in Ondo state, hosting the play off of the National Division 3, the birth of New Team-Flourence Joshua, discovery of a talent in Owo Local Government Council who now plays professional football in Turkey. Assisting the State team Sunshine Stars to escape relegation in the last League game.
Otunba Ajayi also appreciates the state government for supporting the association both psychologically and financially. He equally requested that state government should increase the funding of the body as well as, inclusion of the body in the State Football Board.
Responding to the request of the football managers the Commissioner assures the body of better collaboration and synergy. He equally requested from the body a better partnership to ensure better funding of football and call on private investors to finance football competitions. ” Everyone knows our economy just like others, all over the world had been badly affected with COVID-19 pandemic. However, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN is doing a lot to support sports. I can assure you your request will be looked into and by God’s grace, the state football team will continue to be a model in Nigeria,” the commissioner explained.
The Commissioner says as soon as the renovation of the stadium is completed the State Football team-Sunshine and others will move back to Akure and Football lovers will have the opportunity to watch their darling team. “It is not only economical but necessary to have our teams play her home match in Akure. This will be done! This is the reason we are renovating the stadium,” Ologun said.
Present at the occasion includes: the General Manager of Ondo State Sports Council, the Director of Sports, Representative of Ondo State Football Agency (OSFA) and all the executives and the delegates across the state.
