Adhere to Federal Government’s Fuel Transportation Regulations” Gov. Aiydatiwa’s Aide, Hon. Adebawo Tells Petrol Marketers, Transporters to ensure safety of lives and properties
The Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Emergency Response, Hon. (Prince) Wellington Oriade Adebawo has implored petrol marketers and transporters in the state to adhere to the federal government’s new policy reducing the permissible capacity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) tankers from 60,000 liters to 45,000 liters.
While addressing the press in Akure on Friday, February 28, 2025, Hon. Adebawo said that the new policy aims to mitigate the risks associated with overloading, accidents, and fuel-related hazards, emphasizing that compliance with the federal regulations is non-negotiable, and marketers and transporters in Ondo State must ensure their tankers adhere to the new load limit.
The Special Assistant also stressed the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, responsible driving habits, and mandatory driver experience and training. He instructed drivers to refrain from consuming alcohol or engaging in substance abuse while on duty and to avoid using mobile phones while driving.
Furthermore, Hon. Adebawo emphasized the need for proper entry and exit techniques, regular health check-ups for drivers, and licensing and certification for all employees involved in fuel transportation.
He noted that the instructions are crucial for improving safety standards within the fuel transportation sector in Ondo State, adding that compliance with these regulations, simply ensures safeguarding the well-being of both drivers and the general public.
He reiterated that the Ondo State Government is committed to ensuring the safety and efficiency of fuel transportation in the state.
