ACSPN Meets IMSU VC Over It March 22nd Empowerment series in Imo.

The Executives of Association of Communication scholars and professionals of Nigeria, Imo state chapter led by Dr. Mrs Adeline Nkwam-Uwaoma as the Chairman, over the weekend visited the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University Owerri, Prof. Peter Akah to brief him of the association’s readiness to hold it’s empowerment series in the University compound, on 22nd of March, 2022.

While welcoming the association, the Vice Chancellor of IMSU Prof. Peter Akah, said Communication is very important and a key for any nation’s development. According to him, nothing kills faster than cutting off a communication.

He further seized the opportunity to commend the National President of the association, Prof. Umaru Pate who according to him, did well by bringing the association to Imo state.

Rounding off his speech, the Number one lecturer in IMSU, assured the association of his collaboration to make sure that the programme records huge success.

Earlier, the Imo State chairman of ACSPN, Adeline Nkwam-Uwaoma, informed the Vice Chancellor of the association intention to hold maiden edition of the Imo State ACSPN Empowerment Series with the theme: “Media: Insecurity, Academics, Economic and General Well-being of Nigeria.” That will take place on March 22nd, 2022, at Imo State University Auditorium. This event will be attended by scholars and professionals in the field of communication across the country.

Introducing the association the Public relations officer, Mrs. Peggy Okodogbe affirmed that, ACSPN is an association designed for communication scholars and professionals across Nigeria with the aim of developing programmes of high-quality scholarly research, publication, and knowledge exchange within ACSPN and other organisations with similar aims globally.

Okodogbe, further affirmed that, the association is committed to advancing the study and practice of communication by promoting and facilitating excellence in academic research and professional practice in Nigeria.

Appreciating the Vice Chancellor for his time and hand of partnership on behalf of the association, Peter Dibia, noted that the basic aim of the body is to support the process of shaping communication scholarship, training and practice in Nigeria.

Dibia, further stated that, the association is also geared towards complementing the work of other bodies with similar aims and building on the potential of the field of communication in the country.

while Emeka Etumnu said the opening prayer on behalf of the association.
