After 64 years of independence, Nigeria’s journey as a united nation has been marked by challenges and mediocrity. The biblical verse, “How can two walk together unless they are agreed?” (Amos 3:3), resonates deeply. It’s time to acknowledge that our differences in culture, religion, and values are not weaknesses, but strengths.

True federalism and resource control are the keys to unlocking Nigeria’s potential. By embracing our diversity and granting autonomy to each region, we can:

– Celebrate our unique cultural identities (Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Fulani, Ijaw, and more)
– Harness our individual strengths and resources
– Foster peaceful coexistence and collaboration
– Unleash our collective greatness and fulfill our destiny

Look to countries like:

– The United States, where federalism has enabled 50 states to flourish with significant autonomy, driving innovation and national prosperity
– Germany, where federalism has enabled robust regional development and a strong national identity
– Canada, where provinces have autonomy and contribute to the nation’s prosperity
– Switzerland, where cantonal federalism has created a stable and diverse nation
– Australia, where states have significant powers and contribute to national growth

These nations demonstrate that true federalism can:

– Promote regional development and national unity
– Encourage healthy competition and innovation
– Empower local decision-making and accountability
– Foster a sense of belonging and shared citizenship

In the United States, for example, states like California, Texas, and New York have leveraged their autonomy to become global leaders in technology, energy, and finance, respectively. Similarly, Nigeria’s regions can unlock their unique potential and contribute to national greatness.

Let us learn from their examples and move beyond the status quo. True federalism is the path forward for Nigeria. It’s time to walk together in harmony, celebrating our differences and united in our pursuit of greatness.

Nigeria will be great again

You will succeed
