Tinubu, Other Political Leaders Are ‘Bandits’ Against Nigerians For Purchasing N150billion Jet Amid Hardship — Ezekwesili
The former minister said the actions of President Tinubu are insensitive towards the current economic hardship in the country.
A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has described all political office holders in the current government of President Bola Tinubu as “bandits” who only focus on stealing public funds to enrich themselves.
Ezekwesili mentioned this when she appeared on a Channels TV programme which SaharaReporters monitored on Tuesday night, while berating the recent purchase of N150billion luxurious jet by President Bola Tinubu.
The former minister said the actions of President Tinubu are insensitive towards the current economic hardship in the country.
She said, “By the way, these fellow people are there to play with the intelligence of Nigerians. Between the executive, the presidency, National Assembly, the political class have decided that they are the bandits against the people of Nigeria.
“(This is) because I do not see how it is visible that the purpose priority of the government in this level of biting hunger in the land, this level of poverty when people are dropping into poverty, would be to consider the purchase of befitting aircraft for the president, the construction of the N20billion home for the Vice President, the purchase of all kinds of funny-looking cars.”
SaharaReporters had also reported that former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, also asked President Bola Tinubu to tell Nigerians the exact costs of the new Presidential Jet and how old the aircraft is.
Obi had made the demand in a series of posts on his X account while reacting to the purchase of the new Presidential Jet which has stirred mixed reactions among Nigerians as many faulted the government’s decision to buy the new Presidential aircraft amid acute hunger and hardship in the country.
He had added that Nigerians also deserve to know how the old presidential jets are being disposed, how many of them, how old they are, and why they are being sold.
