Details revealed on why Nyesom wike must be expelled from PDP

Former Federal Commissioner for Information and prominent South-South leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has called on the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Iliya Damagun, to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Nyesom Wike, from the party to ensure its survival.

In a pointed open letter to Damagun, Clark detailed allegations that Wike, a former Governor of Rivers State, is reportedly leveraging his closeness to President Bola Tinubu to exert undue pressure on both the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the PDP itself.

Clark, a key figure in the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), emphasised that he could no longer stand idly by as Wike allegedly continues to undermine the governor and disrupt the party’s cohesion.

At a press briefing held at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja, on Tuesday, Clark expressed his frustration and concern.

He warned Damagun that failing to address the situation could lead to a larger crisis engulfing both Wike and his allies. Clark, who also leads the Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF), emphasised his long-standing political experience, asserting that he was involved in politics long before Wike’s emergence.

Clark also mentioned that he is currently working on a book titled “PDP: To Be or Not To Be,” which critiques recent developments within the party.

He condemned Wike’s apparent shift in allegiance, noting that despite his earlier criticisms of former Governors Bello Matawalle (Zamfara), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), and Ben Ayade (Cross River) for joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wike now appears to be aligning himself with the same ruling party.

Clark said: “After conceding that former Rivers State governor, Peter Odili and his wife made him what he is today and will forever remain grateful to them, he is now abusing them. I won’t allow him to destroy Rivers State.
He claimed that, “having failed to use the APC to disrupt the PDP, Wike is now using the party against itself.”
