Police reacts as Nigerians plan fresh October protests
Organizers of the recent #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests, which took place nationwide from August 1 to 10, 2024, are planning additional protests in October under the banner “Fearless in October.”
The Director of Mobilization for the Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, indicated that the protesters’ demands remain unchanged, though new issues may be added as the situation in the country evolves.
Despite the widespread protests in August, where youths across Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory, participated despite governmental appeals to avoid demonstrations, the police are currently unaware of the upcoming October protests.
Police spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi stated that they have not been informed of the planned protests and will take appropriate action once they are notified.
“We are not aware of this. When they inform us, we will do the needful”, he said.
