Leave Imo Finance Commissioner out of your fabricated sex scandal story – group warns media house
The Coalition for Imo professionals, (CIP), has described as mischievous and fake, stories in a section of the media which state that the Commissioner for Finance and Co-ordinating Economy , Dr Doris Uzoka- Anite seems to have finally bowed to pressure by setting up a committee to investigate the allegations against the culprits, said to be her aides and loyalists.
The group made this known in a statement signed by it’s National Coordinator , Stanley Emeana , made available to newsmen in Owerri on Friday.
The coordinator of the respected group, while warning the writer to desist from soiling the name of the finance guru , stated that linking the finance ministry to an alleged sex scandal was irrational, baseless and a ‘handiwork’ of political blackmailers.
According to the Group, the finance commissioner is just an appointee of the state government and lacks the powers to control the affairs of an independent agency of government.
It added thus that the claim that she has her trusted aides who she personally deployed to the IIRS amidst overwhelming protests and condemnation from different quarters does not hold water.
The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a systematic and calculated attempt by political spin doctors and their partners in the media to tarnish and discredit the image and enviable reputation of the Commissioner for Finance and Coordinating Economy.
“Since last week, we have seen how a section of the media has been trying hard to use the fabricated sex scandal story of last week to harass and extort large sums of money from the intellectual giant.
“Having failed to achieve their aim, the same ‘blackmailing coalition’ have now resorted to sponsoring false news report in some print and online newspapers against Dr Doris Uzoka- Anite
Claiming that Mr Figures who according to them was a member of the former Board was retained because of his purported loyalty to the commissioner of finance who he reportedly works hands in gloves with is false”, the statement read.
The group said the claim that the said Mr. Figure acts and parades himself as the defacto chairman of the IIRS intimidating and threatening young ladies with sack letters, suspension etc, if they refuse to play along with him is just the figment of the writer’s imagination.The planted news report is totally fake and can’t be pinned to the finance commissioner .
The group berated the writers of the story for their failure to ascertain the true identity of Mr Figures, the person alleged to be responsible for the alleged sex scandal.
“We are therefore warning those who have collected millions of Naira to blackmail Dr Doris Uzoka- Anite to desist from their shambolic business ventures.
“Any attempt by group or individual to further harass, blackmail, extort, intimidate and distract Dr Doris Uzoka- Anite would be strongly resisted by members of our group.
“There are other pressing issues in the country challenging the foundation of Nigeria which a responsible media and practitioners should devote greater attention to and not on a fabricated sex scandal story without fact “, it added.
They advised members of the public to disregard the sponsored story since it did not represent the facts on ground.
