Missing Corpse from Owo Mortuary : two men landed in court

Two men, Chief Oladejo Edubi 50 years and Samuel Oluwatodimu 74 years, have appeared before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting at GRA, Owo, in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State for allegedly responsible for a missing corpse deposited in the morgue of a clinic owned by one of them.

Our heritage reporters gathered that Chief Edubi is said to be the owner of one Adeyemi Clinic in Isuada Owo while Oluwatodimu is the mortuary attendant.

The two who were arraigned on a Three-Count Charge were accused of conspiracy to commit misdemeanor, indecently interfered with the corpse of one Olori Rebecca Olaseinde Ogunoye and in manner likely to cause breach of public peace, disposed off the said corpse without the consent of the family.

The Police Prosecutor Inspector,Owolabi Edu told the court that the offences are contrary and punishable under Sections 517, 242 and 249 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State,2006.
The accused persons however pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against them.

The Defence Counsel, pleaded with the court to admit his clients to bail which was a constitutional right but at the discretion of the court.

In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Olubunmi Winifred Dosunmu granted them bail to the tune of N200,000.00 each and one surety to the like sum while the said clinic is temporary barred from taking new copse for embalmment in the morgue pending the determination of the substantive case even as the comprehensive list of already deposited corpses should be forwarded to the Registrar of the court.

The case was adjourned to the 10th of June, 2020 for further hearing.
