Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has approved a N20,000 wage award for all categories of civil servants in the state.
Additionally, the governor has sanctioned N2 billion for scholarship allowances for students in tertiary institutions across the state.
Governor Bago made these announcements during a town hall meeting on the State of the State Affairs at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre in Minna, the state capital, on Thursday
He also ordered the release of 50,000 metric tonnes of assorted grains from the state warehouse, to be sold to residents at a 50% discount.
Civil servants will be able to purchase these grains at a subsidized rate with the option to pay over four months, aimed at alleviating their hardship.
The governor noted that the grains would be available at designated centers in all 25 Local Government Areas, where beneficiaries must present their National Identification Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN) to access the products.
