Just In : Two Commissioners resign from another Governor’s cabinet
Two Abia State Commissioners, Professor Monica Ironkwe of Agriculture and Chima Oriaku of Science and Technology, have reportedly resigned from their positions.
Despite speculation of their dismissal by Governor Alex Otti, no official statement has been released.
Efforts to confirm the situation with the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku, were unsuccessful, though he refuted claims of dismissal when shown the online reports. Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, indicated he would provide further details once available.
Previously, Commissioner for Health Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo had been suspended pending investigation for alleged misconduct.
Governor Otti had emphasised zero tolerance for corruption and underperformance during the Commissioners’ inauguration.
