Just In : NLC speaks on accepting FG’s N62,000 minimum wage offer
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has once again rejected the Federal Government’s proposal for a N62,000 minimum wage.
NLC President, Joe Ajaero, said that the union remains firm in its demand for a N250,000 minimum wage.
Negotiations between the government and the NLC have so far been unproductive, with neither side willing to compromise, even though the current minimum wage lapsed in April 2024.
Speaking in Kano at an award ceremony hosted by the National Association of Medical and Health Workers for its National President, Kabiru Ado Munibur, and two other national executives, Ajaero, represented by NLC General Secretary Emmanuel Ugboaja, expressed concerns about the tough economic conditions and high inflation, which he said are unsustainable for Nigerian workers.
Ajaero reiterated the NLC’s unwavering commitment to achieving a fair wage that ensures a dignified life for Nigerian workers.
